Next Friday, August 24, join us for Evening Song:  Village Music and Stroll, when Kenzie, who is only 16 and on her way to becoming a star, will perform on the SideSpot stage from 6 - 8 p.m.  Your admission is free.  Many of the shops and eateries will join the celebration and be open late next Friday.  This is the first of a new monthly event on the fourth Friday of the month. 

In early July, we held a Patchouli concert outside on SideSpot, and those attending had a wonderful time.  They enjoyed the music, the atmosphere, and the company.  Afterward, we had many requests for an encore of the evening.  These requests prompted us to schedule local artists to perform at Evening Song:  Village Music and Stroll for the fourth Friday in the months of  August, September, and October.  Save the dates below and plan to attend.

Bring your dog to the park this Saturday.

Get your dog out of the house and bring your pet for a day of fun during Dog Days at the Village Park this Saturday, August 4, from 10 - 4.  You can both enjoy tasty treats from the vendors.  Let your dog find something new at the dog supplies and services vendors. 

Both of you will want to “sit” for the presentations and demonstrations on the main stage kicked off at 10 with live music.  WCCO’s Pat Kessler will emcee throughout the day.

• Watch Maggie the Four-legged Therapist show animal-assisted therapy with Sandy Clark.
• Meet Autumn who helped rescue a missing child recently along with her owner Jason Moser. 
• See Viper new Pierce County K-9, and his partner, Sheriff’s Deputy Andy Thoms, at work.
• Learn from Wrench and his dog trainer John May.
• Hear about Lilly’s canine-assisted therapy with Danette Jones, MSSW.

If your dog and you feel competitive, enter the celebrated canine competitions throughout the afternoon which include best dressed/best hair, look alike/best name, and best trick.  Try canine acupuncture and pick up a free doggie bag of treats while supplies last.

Take a walk through town, see what’s new in the shops, and relax with a refreshing beverage at one of the eateries.

Take a magical, calming, and inviting nature experience.

Nestled in a historic Swedish farm just outside Stockholm, Running Dog Ranch Folk Craft and Learning Center has been created to offer a magical, calming, and inviting nature experience.  Our main building is a log cabin in the style from the days of Laura Ingalls Wilder.  We offer you classes in hands-on folksy arts and crafts, poetry, music, eco-science, and fine art. 

The first classes are this fall between mid-September and October.  They include:

• Gathering of Women Storytellers,
• Fruit Winemaking,
• Rag Rug Weaving,
• Leather Crafting,
• Jewelry and Needlefelting,
• Pet Grooming.

To your visit, we add a bit of clowning around and meeting our friendly farm critters.  We have horses, sheep, a goat named "Bijou," an English angora rabbit, and, of course, the ranch’s namesake, "running dog" Forrest.  We know that you will enjoy them as much as we do.

Depending upon the subject, our classes run from two hours to all day.  If you wish to stay overnight, camping is available on the ranch.
