Living in Stockholm inspires creativity. Every day I meet people who are excited to
drive the Great River Road and enjoy the area.
They prompted me to write this poem.
I hope that you enjoy it.
Awaken
We awaken with anticipation; today we take a trip.
We enjoy the usual morning routines; we take our time.
Plans made; we gather our things, and together we travel to
an ancient place blessed by the sun and caressed by water and wind.
We revel in its splendor.
Hilly, sylvan, winding roads take us past industrious century-old
farms and quaint villages.
We are beckoned to stop. Do you hear it?
The air is sweet and the smells trigger memories remembered
only if we pause.
Listen. Animals and
birds abound.
What was that?
It's a call to heighten our senses.
