Saturday Stockholm turns green. Our annual St. Patrick’s Day parade starts at 4:00 p.m. and goes around the block twice! We only have one requirement for floats; they must have green on them. We are excited about this year’s new entry of the new local talent troupe from Widespot that will be presenting their first performance in early April. We know that the Fire Department from Lund, population 66, will have a truck in the parade. The rest will be a surprise to us. Usually we meet the floats in the Park just before the parade, but this year we have too much snow in the Park. Instead, we are lining up and around the corner on a side street.
One participant is certain. We will have a green animal. Since Gelly’s Pub revived the St. Patick’s Day parade eight years ago, we have had a green pig, calf, horse, turkeys, and goats. Wayne and Di at Gelly’s suggest that this may be the year we bring out one of the huge stand-by stuffed animals, a green frog or a green gorilla.
Come early and hear Irish music from the Garrigan's Quarrel starting at Gelly’s at 2 p.m.
Join the fun this Saturday. Either watch or participate in the St. Patrick’s Day parade in Stockholm at 4:00 p.m. It is short and the most fun St. Patrick’s Day parade you can enjoy!
We’d love to see you again,
Stockholm Merchants
