Take a look at old world weaving techniques in contemporary designs.

At Ingebretsen’s, we are excited to introduce you to beautiful linens from the Ekelund Company in Sweden which are created with old world weaving techniques in contemporary designs.

Founded in 1692, the Ekelund Company has been in the same family for sixteen generations.  While the company’s designs are contemporary, the weaving techniques are tried, true, and traditional.  Using both in-house designers and designers from around the world, Ekelund constantly searches for designs that will appeal to customers.  You’ll find the designs are a celebration of beauty in the home environment.  Click here to see them.

We are very interested in Ekelund’s tradition of extreme environmental consciousness which began out of necessity.  Since the factory is in a town of less than 1500 residents in western Sweden, it had to be completely self-sufficient for water and waste removal.  Thus, the Ekelund family developed water conservation practices and used only natural fibers and non-toxic dyes.  In 1995 family members raised their conservation standards even higher.  As a result, Ekelund received the "Good Environmental Choice" label from the Swedish Society of Nature Conservation.  We commend Ekelund’s attention to the environment and the working conditions for its employees.

"I can talk for hours about all aspects of Ekelund," says Trygve Svard, the Marketing Director-USA of Ekelund Linens.  "I enjoy importing their products and want people to enjoy having these linens in their home."

Stop by Ingebretsen's and see these linens up close during Women's Weekend this Saturday and Sunday.  We have a selection of Ekelund runners, placemats, tea towels, dish cloths, and mini towels.  Trygve will be in the store, too.  He will gladly answer your questions and give you more information about the linens and ideas on how to use them in your home.

We’d love to see you again,
Diane and the staff
